This independent Estate Agency was producing detail sheets on a Colour Laser Printer with very high consumable costs. The initial consultation identified some very key aspects and immediately it was obvious substantial savings could be made and the presentation of material improved.

Canon Photocopiers will provide print inclusive of all toner, imaging drums; consumables and full service support at around 6p per page as compared to around 50p a page for the device in use. Further the speed was increased to 30 pages per minute, reducing administration time.

In terms of presentation the agent produced 4 page detail sheets that were printed individually and then stapled together. Using the iRC3380i the detail sheets are printed in booklet mode, 4 A4 sheets on a double sided A3 page and then automatically folded. Larger detail sheets can also be produced folded and stapled.

The real savings in cost per print were then further enhanced by using the Mail Box System on the photocopier. Traditionally a new property detail sheet was printed in bulk (50 sets) and stored in a filing cabinet system. Once sold excess copies of the detail sheet were then discarded, a waste of paper, time and print cost.

The mail box system is now used to store all property details, each of the 100 mail boxes is set to a price band, and individual details are stored in the appropriate price band and identified by its address as a document name. Now the details for new property are printed only 5 times – one for each agent and any client who requires a copy has one printed on demand direct from the copier. More importantly the client is asked if they are happy with a black and white print, further reducing costs.

The savings are achieved in labour time, reduced wastage, reduced paper costs and reduced cost of print to the point whereby the true cost savings actually pay the monthly lease costs associated with machine ownership
